I have to give credit where credit is due.  I am a writer but the man who who takes what I'm thinking (and I generally overthink things) and turn those thoughts into visual realities is Kenneth Johnson, co-owner of Picture This Media Group, LLC.

I've known Kenny for years, he is my "play cousin".  I've watched him go from "lil" Kenny to... well he is still "lil" Kenny to me, but he is growing as an entrepreneur.  I remember when I decided to first do the website for D'Aris Love, I knew what I wanted but I didn't know how to explain that to a graphic designer.  The difference between me and other business owners was I knew my web designer personally, so he knew my style and some of what I liked.  I have encountered many people who are venturing into businesses of their own, and they don't know where to start with graphics and websites.  I asked Kenny to be my first "Business Spotlight", and give those seeking a web/graphic designer a few tips.

Tips for those looking to hire a graphic/web designer:

Be clear with your goals and expectations.  Be sure to provide the graphic designer with enough information about the objective of your project.  Also, be clear about the specific qualifications that you're looking for.  Its' always great to ask the graphic designer what's required from you or your company in order to achieve the best possible results.

What are the most common fears you see from people when designing a website?

Most people are afraid of the website not having the aesthetic appeal of what they envisioned. Thorough communication between the client and the designer can eliminate this problem. Communication is the answer to everything when it comes to client satisfaction.

What do you say to business owners who say "I don't have to pay someone to do that. There are resources I can use for free?"

I would remind them that they are not graphic designers.  Also, it is important that I develop trusting relationships with my clients, so that their visions are portrayed as they envision them. Yes, you can use other resources, but your main focus should be running your business.  Many small business owners try to cut cost by doing things on their own, and I understand that.  But you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Allow a professional to work with you and take some of the pressure and tasks off of you.  I offer affordable pricing and plans to meet all business owners needs.

Other than graphic design, do you have any other businesses?

I am the owner of Produce Section Clothing, a brand that represents a modern, crisp, and refreshing lifestyle.  Our goal is to emulate and exude freshness for a lifetime instead of becoming a fad.  We firmly believe that being fresh is everything! We carry mens, women's and children's apparel.  You can visit www.producesectionclothing.com

Do you have any upcoming projects underway?

Yes.  I am currently writing a children's book that should be released this summer.  I am also developing a mobile app that is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
