The sun is out, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and people are headed to the gym, but let’s face it! Some of us are still sitting on the couch.

You’ve set fitness goals for 2017, but you’ve yet to begin working on them, but it’s not too late and summer’s not here just yet, so let’s work!

Here are some quick fitness tips to help you put some action behind our words.

1.     Identify What motivates you?

What motivates you, What keeps you going? The great thing about motivation is that it can stem from anywhere.  Your friends, family, health status, or even insecurities can motivate you.  Allow those things to push you. Soon you’ll find yourself working towards a goal and creating a new healthy habit.

2.     Stay off the scale

I know you’re probably surprised to hear me say that, but it’s true.  My personal philosophy is to measure your progress based off how you feel and how you look physically.  I’ve found that the scale can be discouraging when you’re looking at it every 5 secs. The scale doesn’t always reflect the results of your hard work.

3.     Set SMART Goals

Setting SMART Goals are crucial to your success. If you don’t set goals you have nothing to measure your progress by.  If you desire to set SMART Goals but you aren’t’ sure how, visit my blog, ‘Train with Purpose.’

4.     Train in the Kitchen

It’s time to commit to the 80/20 rule. Meaning, fitness is 80% what you eat in the kitchen and 20% what you do in the gym. If you’re working out, but still eating unhealthy you won’t make much progress. Remember, you can’t outwork a bad workout.

5.     Weight Training

I encourage all women to weight train.  Weight training is perfect for losing weight but it also helps to tone and build muscle.

6.     Get creative & make it fun

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be boring.  I challenge you to invite your friends to the gym, get creative with your food, and try an outdoors workout. Try something new. You never know what you’ll fall in love with!
